Maine Senator Susan Collins is leading the women of the Senate to take charge of the situation in Nigeria.

She, along with Democratic Senator Barbara Mikulski of Maryland have co-authored a letter to President Obama urging him to take action against the terrorist group.

She says the US should impose arms embargoes, travel bans and asset freezes against those responsible.

“We should consider whether it’s feasible to send in, with the cooperation of the Nigerian government, a special forces unit to try to rescue these young girls,” Sen. Collins said (R)- Maine.

The name of the terrorist group that has kidnapped the girls, Boko Haram, means “western education is a sin”.
