Dale Lancaster, who currently serves as Chief Deputy of the Somerset County Sheriffs Department, has confirmed to WABI that he will run for Sheriff this fall. Lancaster looks to replace longtime Somerset County Sheriff Barry Delong who’s served in that position for the past 20 years. Delong plans to retire at the end of the year.
The 57-year-old Lancaster, a Cornville resident, has enjoyed a long career in law enforcement, including 27 years as a Maine State Trooper. In all Lancaster says he has spent 40 years of his life in law enforcement.
As of now he’s running unopposed but the deadline to file the necessary paperwork is June 2.
