Maine Veterans Stress Gun Safety

The U-Maine student veterans association say it’s important to train families and kids about responsible gun use and gun ownership.

They say they want to demystify the negative stigma associated with guns.  They had a gun safety orientation with several different kinds of weapons including pistols, shotguns and rifles.

“Trying to inform the public that way we can maybe mitigate some of the issues that are happening,” says Christopher Phinney, Senior Vice Commander for Old Town VFW.

They say in a state like Maine where guns are commonly used for sport and hunting, practicing correct gun safety is extremely important.
