From the TV 5 Forecast Center:
Moisture wrapping around low pressure slowly passing to the south of Nova Scotia will provide us with clouds and occasional rain/showers this afternoon. Temperatures will be cold enough through early afternoon for precipitation to fall as some snow or mixed rain/snow over northern areas especially over the higher elevations. The rain will be steadiest from Bangor north and east. Areas south and west of Bangor should stay dry mainly dry and have the chance for some breaks of sunshine developing this afternoon especially late. Temperatures will be below average today with highs in the mid-40s to low 50s this afternoon and feeling cooler with a strong north/northwest wind factored in. With strengthening low pressure to our south and east and high pressure building in from the west, the pressure gradient will be fairly tight overhead resulting in a north/northwest wind around 15-30 MPH throughout the day. Lingering showers will move out early tonight followed by clearing skies as high pressure builds in. Temperatures will drop back to the upper 20s to mid-30s for nighttime lows.
High pressure will slide through the area on Friday giving us a sunny and seasonable day with highs in the 50s to near 60°. Enjoy the sunshine on Friday because more unsettled weather will return to our forecast this weekend. Low pressure currently across the center part of the country will travel to the east/northeast and move through New England on Saturday bringing us clouds and numerous showers to start the weekend. An area of low pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere will drift across the state Sunday then east of the area Sunday night and Monday. This upper level low will keep us under clouds and the threat for some scattered showers Sunday and Monday.
Rest of Today: mostly cloudy with scattered showers, steadier rain from Bangor north and east. Some breaks of sunshine possible south and west of Bangor this afternoon. Windy and cool. Highs between 45°-55°. North/northwest wind 15-30 MPH.
Tonight: lingering showers ending early then clearing skies. Lows between 28°-35°. Northwest wind 5-15 MPH.
Friday: mostly sunny, breezy and pleasant. Highs between 51°-60°. Northwest wind 10-15 MPH.
Saturday and Sunday: mostly cloudy and cool with scattered showers. Highs in the mid-40s to low 50s.
Monday: mostly cloudy with a few lingering showers possible. Highs in the low to mid-50s.
