A Bangor man has been charged after fleeing the scene following a car crash in Trenton.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says around 3:30am Wednesday a car left Route 3 and smashed into a utility pole.

They say Christopher Proulx, 27, took off on foot and was found hours later.

Deputies say he has been charged with leaving the scene of a property of a crash, operating after suspension, and violating conditions of release.

Officials say he had an OUI conviction last month.

The crash knocked out power to about 12-hundred customers and closed down the Bar Harbor Road for hours.

Deputies say Proulx was taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life threatening.
