From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:
A gusty southerly wind on the backside of strong high pressure anchored off the Mid-Atlantic Coastline is currently pulling a very warm airmass north along the Eastern Seaboard. The gusty southerly breeze will continue today and temps throughout Maine will continue to run well above normal as highs range from the mid 50s at the coastline to the low to mid 60s inland this afternoon. An approaching cold front will bring mostly cloudy skies to New England today, with showers ahead of the cold front spreading from west to east across our region as the day moves along. The showers will become steadier and heavier tonight as the strong cold front sweeps east across New England. The showers may briefly change to snow before ending early Wednesday morning as a very chilly airmass begins to spill into our region on a brisk northwest breeze. Temperatures late tonight will fall into the 30s as the colder air builds back into our region and high temps Wednesday will hold in the 30s to low 40s despite a fair amount of afternoon sunshine. A gusty northwest breeze will make it feel even colder than it is Wednesday as the wind chill values run mostly in the 20s, with even some teens being found in the higher elevations of northern Maine.
High pressure will build into the Northeast Wednesday night from southern Canada and under clear skies and a slowly diminishing wind the temps will fall into the mid teens to low 20s by daybreak Thursday. The high will produce mostly sunny skies across New England both Thursday and Friday. Temps Thursday will run a few degrees below normal as highs hold in the 40s to low 50s across Maine. The airmass will continue to modify Friday under the strong April sunshine as high temps reach back up into the low to mid 50s, which is normal for this time of year. A storm developing to the south of New England might throw some clouds into our region as we progress the weekend.
