From the TV 5 Forecast Center:
A warm front is forecast to move north of Maine this morning, allowing a milder airmass to move into the region on a strong southerly wind. We’ll start the day under gray skies and some patchy fog but that will all burn off and we’ll see brightening skies as the morning progresses. With milder air arriving, high temperatures will top off in the 60s to around 70° in most locales this afternoon however, with winds out of the south, temperatures will be a bit cooler along the coast where highs will likely stay in the mid-upper 50s. The warm front will be just to our north during the day so we could still see a shower over far northern Maine but otherwise we’ll see a dry and mild day for a majority of the state.
A cold front is expected to move into the state later Tuesday and Tuesday night. This will bring us some more wet weather Tuesday especially during the afternoon and into the overnight hours. Much cooler weather will move in behind the front for Wednesday with highs only reaching the mid-30s to mid-40s. The good news is that the chilly air doesn’t last too long with more seasonable temperatures coming back on Thursday.
*** WITH MILD TEMPERATURES EXPECTED MONDAY AND TUESDAY AND MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN FORECAST FOR TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND LASTING THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING, THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WATCH FOR THE ENTIRE STATE. THE PRIMARY CONCERN IS THE RAPID SNOWMELT COMBIEND WITH ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL LEAD TO RISING RIVER LEVELS WHICH COULD THEN LEAD TO ICE JAM FLOODING. ***
Today: patchy fog during the morning then brightening skies. A few showers possible over the far north. Milder with highs between 58°-68°, coolest along the coast. South wind 10-20 MPH with gusts to 25-30 MPH possible.
Tuesday: mostly cloudy with scattered showers during the morning then becoming a steadier and heavier rain from west to east across the state during the afternoon and evening hours. Mild with highs between 56°-63°. South wind 10-20 MPH.
Wednesday: lingering rain/snow showers early then clearing skies and much cooler. Highs between 36°-46°.
Thursday: mostly sunny and seasonable. Highs in the upper 40s to low 50s.
Friday: mostly sunny with highs in the 50s.
