A male body was pulled from the Penobscot River in Stockton Springs Sunday, according to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities received a call from a local resident who spotted what appeared to be a body around 11 AM near the Sandy Point Beach.
The Waldo County Sheriff and Stockton Springs Fire Department responded to the scene.
Firefighters used a boat to get the body to shore.
The body has been sent to the medical examiner in Augusta for identification.
Police say there are no obvious signs of foul play.
The Waldo County Sheriff is currently collaborating with other departments to look into reports of missing persons in the area.
