Brighter, Blustery & Cool Sunday

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

The storm that brought the recent rain and mixed precipitation to Maine continues to move north towards Newfoundland. Skies will turn partly cloudy later tonight as the storm continues to work northeast. Temps late tonight will slip into the mid 20s to low 30s and patchy fog will likely form.

An upper level low over Quebec will keep skies mostly cloudy up north Sunday, while the rest of Maine turns partly to mostly sunny as high pressure over the Ohio River Valley builds east towards the Mid-Atlantic Region. Temps Sunday will run a few degrees below normal as highs hold in the upper 30s to mid 40s from north to south across our area. A gusty northwest breeze on the backside of the departing storm will add a bit of a chill to the air Sunday.

The ridge of high pressure along the Mid-Atlantic Coastline will bring fair and pleasant weather to our region Monday, with high temps reaching the upper 40s to mid 50s. As the high moves off to our east clouds ahead of our next storm system will begin to invade our region later Monday afternoon and evening.  The next storm will ride up to the west of New England and bring rain and breezy conditions to the Pine Tree State later Monday night and much of Tuesday. Generally fair and chill weather will return to Maine Wednesday as the storm lifts up into Canada and high pressure approaches from the west. Once again a gusty northwest breeze Wednesday will usher a colder than normal airmass back into New England. A southwest breeze will develop in our area Thursday and temps will begin to moderate back to more seasonable levels.
