Local literacy volunteers brushed up on their tutoring skills Saturday in Bangor.
Literacy Volunteers of Bangor help children and adults in the community with reading and writing.
The Toolkit for Tutors Conference at John Bapst gave volunteers a chance to continue their training.
The different seminars and workshops are designed to strengthen volunteers’ teaching strategies and address questions they may have.
This was a chance to bring tutors together to talk to other tutors,” says Alice Openshaw, the Chair of Tutor Training and Support for the group. “We have some adult education professionals who are with us today and they’re learning from experts in the field from different topics that can help them improve their tutoring skills as they go back and work with their students.”
