Wintry Mix to Mostly Rain Saturday

From the WABI-TV5 & CW Forecast Center:

A storm system lifting north from the Great Lakes region on up into Ontario will spread clouds into Maine this evening. While the primary storm moves up to the west of New England tonight, a secondary storm will develop over Southern New England. The new secondary storm will slide northeast and bring a mixed bag of precipitation to our region late tonight and Saturday morning. The wintry mix of precipitation will turn to mostly rain over much or our region as we progress through Saturday morning as temps warm to the upper 30s north and low to mid 40s south. Far northern parts of Maine might see several slushy inches of snow late tonight and early Saturday, with a coating to 2” being found over the rest of interior central Maine. Southern and coastal Maine will see little if any snow accumulation as the bulk of the precipitation falls as rain. Rain and mixed precipitation will taper off later Saturday afternoon as the primary and secondary storms lift up into southeastern Canada.

An upper level low over Quebec will keep skies mostly cloudy up north Sunday, while the rest of the region turns partly to mostly sunny. Temps Sunday will run a few degrees below normal. High pressure will bring fair and pleasant weather to our region Monday, with high temps reaching the upper 40s to mid 50s. A storm moving up to the west of New England will bring rain and breezy conditions to the Pine Tree State Tuesday, with generally fair weather returning to Maine Wednesday as the storm lifts up into Canada and high pressure approaches from the west.
