A four-legged member of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is getting certified to work for the force, for the tenth year in a row.
Ginger is a 13-year-old police K9.
She’s a rescue dog from Missouri.
Sheriff Donnie Smith said they bonded quickly after he got her in 2004.
Ginger is certified in article and evidence recovery.
She use to do search and rescue until 2010 when she hurt her back.
Smith says Ginger is well known and loved by many in the area.
“She’s been more to me than just, you know, a police k9. She’s really been a big part of this Washington county police department, and still is,” said Sheriff Donnie Smith.
Smith says Ginger has always been easy to train.
He says the golden retriever is a very special dog.
