Levant Fire, One Man Taken To Hospital

Updated 6 months ago

A man was taken to the hospital after escaping from his burning home overnight.

Crews were called to McIntosh Avenue around 10:45 Sunday night.

When they arrived, heavy flames were coming from the home.

We’re told the man inside was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Fire fighters from 8 towns battled the flames. They say mother nature didn’t make it easy.

(Chief Eric Strout/Levant Fire Dept.)”We had extremely high wind conditions which forced the fire on us. We went into defensive operations when we first got here. We did have a garage as an exposure, that was our first primary concern to protect, which we did.”

Chief Strout says icy road conditions and having to shuttle in water also made it tough.

The home was destroyed.

The Fire Marshal’s office has been called to determine a cause.
