A Maine elver fisherman faces jail time for underreporting his catch valued at more than half a million dollars.
Danny Deraps, 43, from Ellsworth has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for underreporting his 2012 landings, which earned him more than $700,000 that season. The attorney general says he only reported half that amount.
Deraps also has been sentenced to two years of supervised release as the result of a plea agreement.
He is also losing his fishing license and paying restitution. The attorney general says he has already repaid more than $25,000 toward his state income tax debt.
