Judge to Decide if 11 Yr Old Competent to Stand Trial

A judge will hear statements today on whether a Fairfield girl, charged with manslaughter at the age of 11, is competent to stand trial.

The girl is charged in connection with the death of 3-month-old Brooklyn Foss-Greenaway. the infant was staying overnight at the home of girl’s mother, who was babysitting her.

The infant’s mother was told she died from suffocation and the baby had trace amounts of a medication in her system the girl was taking.

Twice last year, a judge ruled the girl was incompetent to stand trial.

But a prosecutor says there’s more evidence to show the girl is now competent to stand.
