Thursday morning, police received a call from someone walking on Stillwater Avenue in Bangor.
“They observed what they thought was a person lying in the snow,” said Catherine Rumsey, Bangor Police Department.
Police say below freezing temperatures delayed the medical examiner’s investigation, and this isn’t what they normally deal with following a big storm.
“It’s incredibly uncommon,” she said.
Authorities don’t know yet what the cause of death is or why the man was lying in the snow.
“They would have to examine the body to try to determine if there was any cause for concern if it was natural cause of death of it if was anything suspicious,” she explained.
Police have identified the man was from Maine and are in the process of notifying family.
“As soon as we have more information we will make another press release and make a statement.”
