From the TV 5 Forecast Center:
Skies will average a mix of sun and clouds for the remainder of this Monday with temperatures topping off in the upper 20s to mid-30s for highs this afternoon. A weak area of low pressure is forecast to move through New England tonight bringing us some snow showers and periods of light snow. It’s not a major storm by any means but we could see an inch or two of accumulation in spots which could make for some slippery roads in spots tonight and early Tuesday morning.
Tuesday will start with mostly cloudy skies and some lingering light snow in spots. The snow could mix with some rain for areas along the coast. Any lingering snow or mix will wind down from west to east during the morning followed by brightening skies during the afternoon. Temperatures will be milder with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s so any accumulations that we receive will likely melt away during the day.
Our focus will then be on the potential for a significant storm heading our way later Wednesday and moving out Thursday morning. It’s a fast moving storm with the potential to bring us a significant snowfall especially for inland areas where precipitation is expected to stay all snow while slightly lower amounts are expected near the coast where some mixing could occur. As we say with almost every storm, the amount of precipitation and precipitation type(s) will be dependent on the exact track of the storm. Being that the storm is still a couple days away, things will more than likely change a bit so we’ll keep an eye on it and fine tune the forecast as newer data arrives and the storm approaches. At this point though, it looks like there is good agreement that we’ll see a significant storm impacting our area Wednesday into Thursday so it’s not so much a question of “if” but instead “how much”. Stay tuned for further details.
