A Bangor man charged with manslaughter in the death of a 5-month old boy appeared in court Friday.
Police say Samuel Moore, 25, was Korbyn Antworth’s babysitter.
Korbyn died Wednesday at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, one day after being taken to the hospital from a home on Griffin Road in Bangor.
In a Penobscot Judicial Courtroom in Bangor Friday, the state alleged that Moore indicated to authorities that he dropped Korbyn six feet, which resulted in the baby having bleeding of the brain and eleven rib fractures.
They also said the baby had optic nerve damage, and possible shaken baby syndrome.
An autopsy was conducted Thursday, the cause of the little boy’s death is pending.
The prosecution also stated that Moore has an extensive criminal history going back 13 years, more than half of Moore’s life. Most of these incidents were felony burglaries. He was also charged with arson.
Moore is in the Penobscot County Jail.
His bail was set today to $100,000 cash.
If he makes bail, Moore is to have no contact with children under 12 years old, no contact with the victim’s family, and no use or possession of drugs.
His next court appearance is most likely in May.
