From the TV 5 Forecast Center:
Strong high pressure will move through New England today bringing us lots of sunshine. Temperatures will be a bit warmer this afternoon compared to the past few days with afternoon highs mainly in the low to mid-20s. We’ll see another bitterly cold night tonight with clear skies and light winds. Nighttime temps will range from the mid-single numbers below zero up north to around +10° along the coast.
High pressure will slide to our east for Friday which will switch our wind direction around to a milder southerly wind. The milder wind will push temperatures into the 30s in most locales for Friday and Saturday which is where temperatures should be for this time of year. A cold front is forecast to cross the state later in the day Saturday. The front doesn’t have much moisture with it so it will be more of a cloud producer than anything. Colder air behind the front will move in Saturday night and early Sunday making for a cooler second half of the weekend. Cold temperatures will be with us through all of next week. No big storms in sight for at least the next week or so, so plan on a quiet stretch of weather through the middle of next week.
Rest of Today: lots of sunshine. Highs between 20°-28°. Northwest wind 5-10 MPH.
Tonight: clear and frigid. Lows between -5° to +12°. Light south/southwest wind.
Friday: mostly sunny. Few clouds moving in later in the day. Milder with highs between 32°-37°. South/southwest wind around 10 MPH.
Saturday: mix of sun and clouds. Mild with highs between 36°-42°.
Sunday: partly to mostly sunny. Colder with highs in the 20s to near 30°.
Monday: mostly cloudy during the morning with scattered snow showers. Brightening skies during the afternoon. Highs in the upper 20s to low 30s.
