The mother of a car accident victim accused of spending at least $50,000 intended for her daughter’s care on herself pleaded not guilty Thursday.

48-year-old Jill Farnham of Bangor is charged with theft.

Prosecutors say she was her daughter’s guardian while her daughter was in a coma a few years ago.

Farnham’s daughter got $150,000 ¬†from two lawsuits after the car accident.

We’re told Farnham took some of the money for herself in 2011 and then again in 2013.

They say officials at the bank where the money was being held raised concerns, which prompted an investigation by state police.
