A volunteer at the Bangor Public library is under arrest, accused of stealing $31,000 worth of war memorabilia.

27-year-old Russell Graves is charged with theft and violating bail conditions.

Police say last week he tried to sell a large number of Civil War photographs and World War II memorabilia to a collectibles shop.

But the owner of Maritime International got suspicious and refused to buy the items.

He then contacted library officials after Graves left and found out they were missing items from their collection.

Police say two days later, a woman went to the same shop trying to sell the artifacts, again.

The owner stalled her until police arrive.

They say their investigation then lead them to Graves.

Police say there were able to recover all of the stolen items.
