From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

Sunshine returns to our forecast today as high pressure builds into the area. Temperatures remain well below average with highs in the mid-teens to low 20s for highs. High pressure building in from the west and low pressure to our east will make for a breezy day today. Northwest winds will average 10-20 MPH with gusts to 25 MPH at times which will make for wind chills near or below 0°.

Snow showers will be possible again on Saturday as weak low pressure moves across southern Quebec and pulls a cold front across New England later Saturday afternoon through Saturday night. The best chance for snow showers during the afternoon will be to the north and west of Bangor then more widespread snow showers are expected for the rest of the state during the nighttime hours. Temperatures will be a little bit warmer Saturday with highs in the 20s in most locales. Sunday will start with some lingering clouds and a few snow showers but skies are expected to brighten up during the afternoon as the front moves away from the area. Colder air will move in behind the cold front later Sunday and Sunday night making for a frigid start to the work week. Temperatures for Monday and Tuesday will only be in the single numbers and teens for highs.

We’re keeping an eye on the potential for snow on Monday with a storm forecast to move off the Mid-Atlantic coastline. The latest track is further south than previous forecasts with the bulk of the storm affecting southern parts of New England and missing us here in Maine. So if this stays on track then the storm will be a non-issue for us. It’s still a few days away and it’s still a close pass to our south so I don’t want to count it out yet but it’s looking more and more like this storm will miss us and our storm free stretch will continue through much of next week.

Rest of Today: mostly sunny, breezy and cold. Highs between 14°-24°. Northwest wind 10-20 MPH with gusts to 25-30 MPH possible. Wind chills will feel more like its down near or below 0°.

Tonight: clear skies to start then increasing clouds late. Lows between -16° to +1°. Light and variable wind.

Saturday: some early sunshine possible then mostly cloudy with scattered snow showers developing during the afternoon and evening especially north and west of the Bangor area. More widespread snow showers will move through during the night. Highs between 19°-29°. Light winds will become south around 10 MPH.

Sunday: morning snow showers then brightening skies. Highs between 19°-29°.

Monday: mix of sun and clouds. Much colder with highs in the upper single numbers to mid-teens.

Tuesday: partly to mostly sunny. Highs in the upper single numbers to mid-teens.
