A car accident in Embden claimed one woman’s life, Thursday evening.

Deputies from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office were called to the crash along New Portland Road, just after 4:30 pm.

They say, 24-year-old Mark Schobel of North Anson tried to pass another car in his Chevy Malibu.

A Subaru Outback, driven by 67-year-old Leon Souweine, was driving in the opposite direction.

They crashed head on.

Both cars were totaled.

Responders say a passenger in the Malibu, 22-year-old Jennifer Nile of Embden, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Subaru, his wife Ruth, and Schobel, were taken by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

They are believed to be in serious but stable condition.

This is so sad, Thoughts and Prayers go out to the Nile family. Losing two children, both Jenn and Ryan, just over a year apart from car accidents, and also Jenn’s son’s father, Sam White. Thoughts and prayers go out to Jenn’s Family and friends along with Jenn’s son Johnathan who has now lost his uncle, mother and his father all to car accidents in the past year and a half.
