College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor is getting a donation of more than half-a-million dollars from David Rockefeller.

It’ll go toward the college’s sustainable food program, in honor Rockefeller’s wife.

The Peggy Rockefeller Farms were donated to the school four years ago and are made up of 125 acres.

The $589,000 will be used to develop a demonstration center at the farms to help students learn more about sustainable living and raise organic crops for the school, as well as livestock.

Local farmers and community members will also be able to use the resources there.
