From the TV 5 Forecast Center:
Sunshine returns to our forecast today as high pressure slides into New England. Temperatures will be above average with highs topping off in the mid-30s to mid-40s this afternoon. A lot of the snow that we received late yesterday and last night will just melt away with the help of the sun and mild temperatures. Clouds will roll back into the state during the night tonight as low pressure approaches from the Great Lakes region. There may be some light snow or mixed precipitation moving in late tonight as well mainly for areas around Bangor points south and west.
Low pressure is forecast to pass to our west on Friday. The storm will pull a warm front northward through the state during the day which will allow a milder airmass to move into the region and cause varying types of precipitation depending on your location. Temperatures will be cold enough initially so that precipitation begins as snow and/or mix in the morning with light accumulations of an inch or two in spots before changing to freezing rain and rain from south to north across the state. Roads will likely be icy in many spots especially away from the coastline during the morning and early afternoon before temperatures warm enough and the changeover to all rain occurs. Friday’s highs are expected to reach the mid-30s to around 40°. Precipitation will move out late Friday night as a cold front crosses the state followed by drier weather for the weekend. Temperatures will remain mild to start the weekend with highs in the upper 30s to mid-40s Saturday. A cold front is forecast to move through the state late Saturday and Saturday and could bring us a few snow showers on its way through. Colder air will start moving in behind the front on Sunday with highs in the 30s. Temperatures will continue to cool off early next week.
Rest of Today: partly to mostly sunny. Highs between 35°-45°. West wind 5-15 MPH with gusts to 20-30 MPH possible.
Tonight: increasing clouds. Light snow and mixed precipitation possible late mainly from Bangor points south and west. Lows between 15°-27°. Light and variable wind.
Friday: periods of snow and mixed precipitation changing to freezing rain and rain from south to north especially late morning through the afternoon. Highs between 34°-41°. Southeast wind 5-15 MPH.
Saturday: mix of sun and clouds. Highs in the upper 30s to mid-40s.
Sunday: mix of sun and clouds. Highs in the 30s to around 40°.
Monday: mostly cloudy with scattered snow showers possible. Colder with highs in the 20s to around 30°.
