The Greater Bangor Bark for Life held its first event of the year today. The group hosted a Zumba Thon. Nearly 60 people danced for two hours during the event. All the money raised during the Zumba Thon goes to the American Cancer Society. Bark for Life is a subdivision of the ACS, Relay for Life. It’s mission is to honor the life-long contributions of canine caregivers.
“Canines do such a great job of giving emotional and therapeutic support for cancer survivors and those battling disease,” said Co-Chair, Elizabeth Tilton.
“We are the only canine friendly cancer fund raising event central or eastern Maine. We’re also the second largest Bark for Life in all of New England just behind Springfield in Massachusetts,” said Lisa Eldridge.
The Greater Bangor Bark for Life hopes to raise $30,000 this year for the American Cancer Society.
