From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

Strong low pressure will move away from Maine this afternoon. Lingering areas of snow and mixed precipitation will taper to scattered snow showers from west to east across the state as the afternoon progresses. Snow showers will likely linger into the evening hours before ending followed by some partial clearing later tonight.

Low pressure moving through the Midwest is forecast to re-develop off the Mid-Atlantic coast late tonight and early Saturday. This new storm will then travel northward towards eastern Nova Scotia bringing us some snow showers Saturday afternoon followed by steadier and heavier snow Saturday night into Sunday morning. As usual, computer model data differs with regard to the storm track which, in turn, will determine how much snowfall we get. At this point, it looks like most of the state will see accumulating snow Saturday night and Sunday morning with the heaviest falling from Bangor eastward. Temperatures will be cold enough so that precipitation types won’t be an issue. All snow is expected with the weekend storm and it will be a light, powdery snow too so clean up should be fairly easy. Snow will move out of the region early Sunday morning followed by drier and colder weather for the afternoon. High pressure will build in and bring us a sunny and cold start to the week Monday followed by another storm bringing us another chance for snow on Tuesday.

Rest of Today: occasional snow and mixed precipitation tapering to snow showers from west to east. Highs between 27°-39°. Winds will become northwest 10-20 MPH.

Tonight: snow showers ending early then partly to mostly cloudy. Lows between 8°-18°. Light west wind become southwest late.

Saturday: mostly cloudy with scattered afternoon snow showers. Steadier, heavier snow likely especially over the eastern half of the state beginning during the evening and continuing through the night. Highs between 27°-35°. East wind 5-10 MPH.

Sunday: morning snow tapering off then mostly cloudy during the afternoon. Colder with highs between 18°-28°.

Monday: sunny and cold. Highs in the teens to around 20°.

Tuesday: mostly cloudy with snow possible. Highs in the 20s.
