Orono police are investigating business break-ins over the weekend.

They all happened during the overnight hours.

The first report came from China Garden on Stillwater Avenue.

Saturday night, The Thai Kitchen on Park Street was hit.

Monday morning, the owner of Family Dog on Mill Street arrived at work to find a front door window broken.

At first Bob Cutler thought it was vandals.

Then, he noticed money missing.

“We had a really strong weekend and I come in here excited for a great week ahead,” says Cutler. “And then you realize that this happened and now with the insurance deductibles and the loss, you basically worked a couple of days for free. And as a small business owner in Maine, that stings a little bit.”

“They appear to be connected based on the evidence that we’re seeing,” says Orono Police Chief Josh Ewing.  “The investigation will be on-going.”

Anyone with information on the breakins is asked to call Orono Police 866-4000.
