It was a fun day for librarians all over the country on Saturday.
It was “Bring your child to the library day.”
The Bangor Public Library hosted some events for the special day.
The library had activities for kids to enjoy, as well as prizes to those opening a library card for the first time.
Librarians say it’s a wonderful center of the community, and reading is a great way for kids to learn.
“Especially with children if you start them young enough and get them to associate books, reading with fun, I think it helps with early childhood literacy. And it is, it’s a fun place to go,” said Christine Erickson a children’s librarian at the Bangor Public Library.
The library also hosted a story time that included a couple of special guests.
WABI’s news anchors Caitlin Burchill and Terry Stackhouse joined in the activities with reading to the children and teaching them about news anchoring.
