“Big G’s” Seafood Chowder & Chili Recipes

Gerry “Big G” Michaud from Big G’s in Winslow shares some recipe ideas for the Super Bowl.

Seafood Chowder:
1 pound white fish (haddock, cod, etc.)
2 cups raw shrimp
2 cups raw scallops
I can clams
1 cup water
1 can clam broth
3 med. Potatoes
1 qt. 1/2 & 1/2
3 tsp. salt, 2 tsp. garlic powder, 1tsp. Pepper
Dice potatoes and cook in clam broth, water, and spices, adding the white fish just before the potatoes and done.
Add un-drained clams, scallops, and shrimp.
Bring slowly to a boil, then add 1/2&1/2.
Bring to a simmer,(thicken, if desired, or add more liquid.
Serve.

Chili:
1 pound ground beef
2 med. onions
2 med. green peppers
4 cloves of garlic
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 large can tomato sauce
1 can kidney beans
3 tbl. chili powder
2 tsp. Cumin
2 tsp. Red pepper flakes
1 tsp. salt
1 tbl. Brown sugar

Sauté onions, garlic and peppers.
Add beef and cook until done.
Drain fat.
Add the rest of ingredients.
Simmer 30 min.
Serve

    Just putting 1/2 and 1/2 will thicken the broth in the seafood chowder?
