More than 120 employers packed the UMaine Rec Center for the largest career fair in the state.
It’s been an ideal place to make connections for over 16 years now.
“There are a lot of students that get jobs. A lot. And what’s interesting is we’ve been doing this so long that a number of employers who are here, got their jobs through the career fair, and now they’re back recruiting new students to hire. And, they’d really fun. And, a number of companies have brought new hires with them who were here last year. We also have a lot of alumni here. A lot,” said director, Patty Counihan.

“It’s exciting for me, because as a student I did come to a job fair. I was a liberal arts major, so exciting for me to share with other liberal arts majors how they can fit into hospital setting,” said Alyssa Anaya, HR business partner at St. Joseph Healthcare.
“It’s nice to see the career world and the education world kind of come together. Our nursing students, we usually meet in the hospital setting so it’s really nice to see them on their home turf and to get them to ask questions that they may normally may not ask,” said Darci Lane, Associate Director. “We’re a fun place to work, and we want people to know that. That’s part of our mission, is having fun and enjoying your career, and it doesn’t always have to be stressful.”
“It’s been so great, and everyone has been so nice. I love meeting people, so it’s been really fun, the employers are super kind, and I just had a really, really great time,” said Autumn Greenleaf, a senior at UMaine Farmington.
