The doors of the Maine State Prison are about to open to the public for a first-ever concert.
The group Sounds of Comfort will be performing, a band made up of men inside the walls in Warren.
They’re all members of the hospice program there and help take care of sick and dying prisoners.
Photojournalist Mark Rediker shares their story.
The concert will coincide with the group’s first CD release.
All of the money raised from that, as well as the concert will go back into the hospice program.
The band members say their music is not about them – it’s about taking care of their brothers.
The concert is Wednesday, February 19th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15 each and there are only 160 seats.
To get a ticket, you have to register at www.mainehospicecouncil.org.
You can also go to that website to hear one of the songs the band will be playing.
