The University of Maine women’s hockey team was skating on pink ice today–all for a good cause.
The ice was dyed pink as part of Hockey East’s Skating Strides against Breast Cancer.
It’s an annual event that the hockey conference puts on to raise money for breast cancer research…
And UMaine hockey’s commitment to that cause goes beyond just pink ice…
“We’re raising money for breast cancer awareness. We raise specifically for the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer hope and healing–and we’ve done that by selling pink pucks for donations as well as the jerseys that the women’s team is wearing today will be auctioned off to toward the Patrick Dempsey Center,” said John Diamond, Marketing Assistant, UMaine.
This is the third year the women’s team has participated–the men’s team played on the pink ice on Tuesday.
The women–by the way–won today’s game against Providence one-nothing.
