There were reports of a helicopter fire in Houlton Friday night.
According to Houlton Police, the call came in a little after 8:40 Friday evening and a Border Patrol helicopter was involved.
The engine compartment of the helicopter caught fire, the pilot made an emergency landing.
It landed 300 feet off the end of the runway on the grass.
Firefighters from the Houlton Fire Department were able to extinguish the fire.
No injuries have been reported and they say the pilot made it out safely.
There’s still no word on what caused the fire, the Houlton Fire Chief was unavailable for comment.
