A man from Brewer accused of killing a fellow inmate at the Maine State Prison is going back to jail for nine months for aggravated assault.

34-year-old John Thibeault was originally indicted for manslaughter in the death of 64-year-old Sheldon Weinstein four years ago.

Last week he pleaded no contest to aggravated assault and guilty to failure to appear in court.

Thibeault was sentenced Friday and ordered to serve three years probation for the assault charge, too.

Thibeault was in prison for robbery in 2009 when Weinstein was killed.

Weinstein was in a wheelchair and died of blunt force injuries.
