A woman who spent years lending her support to organizations in Hancock County has died.

Jean O’Meara was 91. She died Monday at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

She was married to Dr. Edward O’Meara, who founded Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth.

Her obituary says the hospital was an effort “to which she devoted herself tirelessly.”

O’Meara was also a big supporter of the Emmaus Center in Ellsworth, a homeless shelter.

Her funeral is set for 1 p.m. Saturday, January 18th, at the Union Congregational Church in Hancock.
