A barber shop in downtown Bangor is shaving a few bucks off the price of a haircut to support a local organization that helps people in need.
In fact, Sunday, January 19th, all of the services at Cornerstone Barber Shop are free.
Instead they’re taking donations for Manna Ministries in Bangor.
The money will go to support Manna’s food pantry and housing programs.
Last year was the first time the barber shop offered the deal and the owner says he was overwhelmed when they collected more than $2,000.
Gene Spearrin says, “We’re hoping that our clients give approximately what the service is worth to Manna. All of the employees are giving their time, the shop is giving their time, there’s no profit in this for us, except the enjoyment of it.”
This year’s shave and a haircut fundraiser runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Cornerstone Barber Shop is at 210 Exchange Street in downtown Bangor.
