From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

A cold front will approach from the west today while low pressure approaches from the south. These two systems will combine to bring us a wet afternoon with periods of rain, the heaviest of which will fall over  Downeast locations. Temperatures are warm enough so that precipitation will be in the form of just plain rain. However, with the cold front coming in, cooler air will start moving into the mid-levels of the atmosphere this afternoon which may allow some snow to mix in with the rain later this afternoon for northern and western parts of the state. Rain and any mix will come to an end from west to east tonight followed by partial clearing late. Temperatures will drop back to the mid-20s to low 30s tonight so icy roads will be possible.

We’ll dry things out on Wednesday with some sunshine and mild temperatures with highs in the mid-30s to mid-40s. Another area of low pressure passing north and west of the area late Wednesday and Wednesday night will give us the chance for a few snow showers especially over northern areas. Thursday looks okay with a mix of sun and clouds and temps in the 30s to low 40s.  We’ll be watching low pressure forecast to develop to our south on Friday then head to the north/northeast towards New England. The exact track of the storm is in question right now and that will determine who sees precipitation and how much but it looks like at least central and eastern Maine will see some precipitation from the storm later Friday night and into Saturday. The storm is forecast to track to our east which will allow enough cold air into the region so that precipitation falls as snow for most spots with some mix possible closer to the coast. We’ll keep you posted as the week progresses.

Rest of Today: periods of rain. Rain may mix with some snow over northern and western areas this afternoon. Mild with highs between 39°-49°. South wind 5-10 MPH.

Tonight: rain and mix ending then partial clearing late. Lows between 24°-32°. Northwest wind 5-10 MPH.

Thursday: mix of sun and clouds. Highs in the mid-30s to low 40s.

Friday: mostly cloudy with highs in the 30s to near 40°.
