From the TV 5 Forecast Center:
Partly to mostly sunny skies will prevail for the rest of the day with well above average temperatures as highs top off in the mid-30s to mid-40s from north to south across the state. Skies will turn cloudy tonight as a cold front approaches from the west followed by light precipitation moving especially after midnight. Temperatures will need to be watched tonight for precipitation types. Precipitation will likely fall as freezing rain especially areas from Dover-Foxcroft to Lincoln north and west where temperatures will drop to near or just a little below 32°. Temperatures elsewhere will be a few degrees warmer with lows in the mid to upper 30s so precipitation is expected to be plain rain but with the colder ground we could still see some icy spots so use caution if you have travel plans tonight or early tomorrow.
Icy mix will continue for northern and western areas during the morning then transition to rain by late morning into the afternoon with light rain falling across the rest of the state. Low pressure is forecast to pass just offshore later in the day and may bring some steadier and heavier rain to areas from Bangor south and east. Temperatures will be mild Tuesday with highs in the upper 30s to mid-40s. The rain and mix will taper off Tuesday night and we’ll see a little break in the action late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. Another area of low pressure approaching from the west will bring us a chance for a few rain and snow showers later Wednesday, Wednesday night and early Thursday. We’ll dry out during the Thursday with brightening skies and temperatures in the 30s in most locales. A disturbance approaching from the west on Friday will bring us a cloudy day but otherwise it looks dry and temperatures in the 30s, should be a decent end to the week.
Rest of Today: partly to mostly sunny. Mild with highs between 37°-47°. Southwest wind 5-10 MPH becoming south.
Tonight: becoming cloudy. Areas of freezing rain developing for areas from Dover-Foxcroft to Lincoln north and west, rain showers developing elsewhere. Lows between 31°-39°. South wind 5-10 MPH.
Tuesday: icy mix changing to rain showers from Dover-Foxcroft to Lincoln points north and west, rain elsewhere. Steadier, heavier rain possible from Bangor through Downeast areas during the afternoon and evening. Mild with highs between 39°-46°. South wind 5-10 MPH.
