From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

Strong low pressure will pass well west of the area today pushing a cold front through the area later today and early tonight. Strong south/southeasterly winds ahead of the approaching cold front will usher a mild airmass into the region for today. Winds will be gusty today with gusts to 30-40 MPH possible over inland locations and 50-60 along the coast so scattered power outages are a possibility today. With all the rain and melting that will occur, there will be a lot of water on the roadways. Some storm drains are clogged with snow and ice so the water has nowhere to go which will result in some street flooding in spots. The cold front is forecast to cross the state this afternoon and evening. As it does so, colder air will quickly move back into the region behind the front which will cause the rain to change to mix and snow from west to east before coming to an end later tonight. We could see a coating to 1” of accumulation over far western and northwestern areas otherwise accumulations are not expected with the changeover. With the colder air coming back into the region, temperatures tonight will drop back to the mid-single numbers to mid-teens for nighttime lows. All the water from today will then refreeze and we’ll likely have to deal with icy roads during the night tonight and for tomorrow morning as well.

The remainder of the week looks quiet and chilly. Upper level energy over the area Tuesday will keep us under cloudy skies for the day. There may be a few breaks but otherwise clouds will prevail. With low pressure to our north and high pressure to our south, the pressure gradient over the area will be fairly tight resulting in gusty westerly winds Tuesday. Temperatures are going to be cold with highs in the single numbers to around 10° north and teens to near 20° elsewhere. Wind chills will feel more like it’s near or below zero throughout the day. High pressure building into the area will provide us with some sunshine Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures for both days will be in the teens and 20s for highs.

Rest of Today: periods of rain.  Mild with highs between 42°-52°. South/southeast wind 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30-40 MPH inland, 50-60 MPH along the coast.

Tonight: rain tapering off from west to east. Rain will likely change back to mix and snow before ending. Much colder with lows between 3°-15°. West wind 5-10 MPH.

Tuesday: variably cloudy, breezy and cold. Highs between 8°-20°, coldest north. West wind 10-20 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH possible. Wind chills will be near or below zero throughout the day.

Wednesday: partly to mostly sunny. Chilly with highs between 14°-24°.

Thursday: mostly sunny with highs in the upper teens to mid-20s.

Friday: morning snow showers then clearing during the afternoon. Highs in the 20s to low 30s.
