A Clinton man who police say took a shot at his girlfriend before shooting himself in the face last night remains hospitalized.

Police say they found 55-year-old Edward Domasinsky in his truck on the Horseback Road in Clinton with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his face.

His girlfriend said the couple had a fight and Domasinsky tried shooting her. She told police she deflected the gun barrel with her hand then fled the scene. Police say Owens ran to a neighbors house and called for help. She told police she heard a gunshot on her way out the door.

The woman was treated at the hospital for powder burns on her hand. No word on Domasinsky’s condition.

No charges have been filed yet, but the incident remains under investigation.

The Clinton Police Department, Kennebec County Sheriffs Department and the Maine State Police collaborated on the investigation.
