From the TV 5 Forecast Center:

Lingering light snow, mainly over Downeast areas, will continue to wind down early this afternoon followed by clearing skies as high pressure builds into the region. Another bitterly cold day today with highs only topping off a couple degrees either side of zero. With high pressure building in and low pressure moving out, the pressure gradient between the two will be fairly tight over Maine resulting in a gusty north/northwest wind today. Winds are expected to range from 10-20 MPH with gusts reaching 25-30 MPH which will produce wind chills between -15° to -35° throughout the day. Skies will start clear tonight followed by increasing clouds late as a warm front approaches from the west. Temperatures will be well below zero again tonight with lows ranging from the mid-20s below zero north to the single numbers below zero along the coast.

Drier and milder weather will be with us this weekend. High pressure sliding through the area will provide us with a milder south/southwest wind. Temperatures will warm into the teens and low 20s Saturday and 20s and 30s Sunday. Our next storm is forecast to arrive later Sunday night through Monday and looks to be more rain than anything based on current forecasted track. The storm is forecast to track west of Maine on Monday keeping us on the warm side of the storm and giving us mainly rain as it moves through. We’ll keep you posted of any changes as we get closer but with the chance for rain in the forecast, it would be a good idea this weekend to finish cleaning up any snow that you haven’t had a chance to move yet and also to rake some snow of your roof. The rain is going to add a lot of weight to the existing snowpack and very cold air is forecast to return to the state later Monday and Monday night so everything is expected to freeze solid as a result.

Rest of Today: snow ending early Downeast then clearing skies. Frigid with highs between -7° to +5°. North/northwest wind 10-20 MPH with gusts to 25-30 MPH possible. Wind chills will feel more likes it between -15° to -35° throughout the day.

Tonight: clear skies to start the increasing clouds late. Diminishing wind. Frigid with lows between -25° to -7°. Winds will become light and variable.

Saturday: variably cloudy and not as cold. Highs between 11°-25°. South/southwest 5-10 MPH.

Sunday: partly sunny and milder. Highs between 27°-37°.

Monday: periods of rain and mix. Milder with highs in the mid-30s to low 40s.

Tuesday: mostly cloudy with scattered snow showers. Very cold with highs between teens to around 20°.
