Firefighters responded to a blaze at a business in Hampden Tuesday.

The call for a possible electrical fire at the John W. Kennedy Company came in just before 1pm.

The petroleum equipment distributor is located in the Hampden Business and Commerce Park on Carey Circle.

Officials say two employees heard cracking in the walls.

Crews from several departments were able to knock down the fire within 20 minutes.

“It was a very quick stop crews worked really well inside. We were aided by the sprinkler system as well that tripped after awhile,” said Lt. Dan Pugsley of the Hampden Fire Department.

Fire officials say there was minimal damage in the building. They’re investigating the cause.

They say they weren’t worried about petroleum as they were not aware of large amounts of fuel in the building.
