Win Streak Continues for Husson Men’s Hoops

It’s been a great start for the Husson mens basketball team.  They are 8-0 so far.

The Eagles have had an incredible 42 straight winning seasons.

Coach Warren Caruso has been a part of the program, starting as a player, for the last 30 years.

Sometimes I’m the guy trying not to screw it up but certainly we are excited about the group we have back and feel fortunate by the talent and the young people we have had in our program over the years.

It’s a different style of play this year after losing a dominating center to graduation.

Yeah we lose our post game but our biggest asset is our speed and quickness so we get out on the break which is a big part of our offence which the way we get into that is play good defense getting steams and easy rebounds and breaking and getting easy shots.

So far it’s working.  They’re shooting 41% from the three point line.  Goal number one is to win the league title again.

That is definitely our expectation is to get back and win the conference and move on from there.

Moving on would be to the NCAA tournament… Last season they were bounced in the first round.

I’d say last year we had a pretty intense preseason and it was a kind of feeling like when we did win the NAC it was definitely well deserved and our pre season this year was a lot more intense so hopefully we can repeat.

A conference title would be the 10th in 20 years, and that’s a pretty good recruiting tool.

I wanted to come to a program that gave me a chance to win every year and expectations have been met in that sense.

Certainly that is a benefit you look at a male athlete they are looking for a quality basketball program in a good setting and I think we offer that Husson University is such a dynamic place and to bring a student athlete on campus along with the basketball program I think it allows us to attract student athletes from a lot of different areas and we are excited about what is happening.
