From the TV 5 Forecast Center:
High pressure will slide to our east today, making room for our next storm to move into the region tonight and early Wednesday. We’ll start out with morning sunshine followed by increasing clouds this afternoon as low pressure approaches from the south. Temperatures will be cold today with highs in the teens for most locales. Snow will move in during the night tonight as a strengthening area of low pressure moves from just south of Cape Cod into the Gulf of Maine late.
Snow will wind down from west to east across the state during the morning hours on Wednesday followed by brightening skies during the afternoon as some drier air moves in on the backside of the departing storm. The heaviest snowfall accumulations will fall just east of Bangor, encompassing Hancock and Washington Counties where as much as 6”-12” are possible. Areas from Bangor down to the Midcoast and north and west up to Greenville and Millinocket will see 3”-6” while areas north of Greenville and Millinocket only see 1”-3” by the time all is said and done. Thursday will be dry with some morning clouds followed by afternoon sunshine as a weak disturbance moves through the area. Another storm will head our way on Friday and could bring snow to northern areas with mix and possibly rain elsewhere.
Rest of Today: increasing clouds. A few snow showers possible late in the day over areas south and west of Bangor. Cold with highs between 10°-21°. Light and variable wind.
Tonight: mostly cloudy with periods of snow. Cold with lows between 1°-19°, coldest north and warmest towards the coast. Winds will become northeast 10-15 MPH.
Wednesday: periods of snow and snow showers tapering off during the morning then brightening skies during the afternoon. Highs between 19°-28°.
Thursday: mostly cloudy during the morning then brightening skies during the afternoon. Milder with highs between 25°-35°.
Friday: snow north, mix and rain elsewhere. Highs in the teens to low 20s north and mid-20s to mid-30s elsewhere.
Saturday: mostly cloudy with scattered snow showers during the morning. Snow over northern areas during the afternoon with mix and rain elsewhere. Highs in the mid-20s to mid-30s.
