Levant Man Arrested After Overnight Police Standoff

A Levant man was arrested early Wednesday morning after a reported standoff at his home.

40-year old Gary Bouchard is charged with domestic violence criminal threatening, domestic violence terrorizing. criminal threatening and creating a police standoff.

Police were called to Mudgett Road at 8:30 Tuesday night for a report of a drunk man threatening people with a baseball bat.

While on the way, troopers were told the suspect had fired a single shot outside his residence.

When State police arrived, they say they tried talking with Bouchard but instead he barricaded himself alone inside the home. State police say two victims as well as near-by residents were evacuated for their safety.

The State Police Tactical Team and Crisis Negotiation team were called in.

At 2:45 a.m., Bouchard was taken into custody by the tact team.
