The Affordable Care Act is a big topic nationally, but one local group wanted to make sure students were aware of it.

Penobscot Community HealthCorps members were at UMaine Wednesday.

They set up an information table to teach students how to explore their “Affordable Care Act” health care options.

While there was not a big turn out, they hope it helped.

“We realized that at UMaine insurance isn’t required for students, so we’re hoping to reach anybody that’s uninsured or anyone who has questions about the marketplace in general to see what their options are,” said Margaret Xu, AmeriCorps member serving PCHC.

They encourage Mainers to visit enroll207.com to learn more about specific health care plans.

Healthcare.gov is the website to complete the application program and enroll in a plan.
