Town officials in East Millinocket have accepted a $1 million check from a Powerball winner to help repair the high school.

Most of the money will be used to fix the roof at Schenck High School.

Town selectman approved the donation Monday night.

The superintendent says a second check from former resident Gloria MacKenzie for $800,000  is expected to come in January.

MacKenzie, who’s living in Florida, won more than $370 million dollars last spring.

She’s the largest single winner in lottery history.

The roof repair is scheduled to start as soon as school ends in June.

The state will pitch in $600,000 for the project, too.
