HALLOWELL, Maine (AP) — Turkey art will be on display in Maine this week.
The Harlow Gallery is hosting Augusta-based artist Cheryl Miller’s “46 Million Turkeys” art project beginning Monday.
Miller is inviting people from all over the country to submit portraits of turkeys to the project. The goal is to gather 46 million portraits of turkeys, the estimated number that will be consumed on Thanksgiving.
The gallery will have art supplies on hand for creating turkeys to be part of the exhibit.
The gallery says Miller has already received more than 1,400,000 individual turkey portraits.
During a reception on Saturday residents can meet Miller and hear how many turkey works of art were collected in total.
