VASSALBORO, Maine (AP) – State police and the Kennebec Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of a man whose body was found near the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro.
Spokesman Steve McCausland says Kennebec County deputies were called to the scene along Route 201 about 7 a.m. Friday.
They found the body of 69-year-old Thomas Namer, of Waterville, outside an abandoned mobile home. An autopsy was underway but no results were expected to be released Friday.
During the course of the investigation, a neighbor was taken into custody for a probation violation in an unrelated case. Police say 30-year-old Courtney Shea was being questioned by detectives. It was unclear if he had an attorney.
Vassalboro is about midway between Augusta and Waterville.
